Exercise and Parkinsons
I have been increasing the intensity of my exercising and I am doing incredibly better. I just read a book called Spark by John Rately that talks about what exercising does for the brain. It is worth reading I recommend it highly. After reading the book I started increasing the intensity of my workouts and I think it has made a big impact on my recovery.

I am responding again after acquiring Spark. Yes, it is a very important book on exercise. It is very motivating because it reveals studies of exercise on the brain! You start to want those effects. Today, I walked further than I have in a long, long time, pushing my limits and ignoring well-meant “don’t over-do its.” Now, my mind is happier, and I’m keeping my dream alive of doing bodybuilding and running.
Yesterday, I joined a friend in walking home from downtown to our neighborhood, which is about three miles. I have not done this in a long time. Tonight, I was reading about keeping stress low–acceptance and working with rather than fighting which produces more stress. I got the idea of walking like a duck. I tried it and found that I was ready for it, plus it quickly brushed off mental stress, while giving me the feeling of doing something challenging and athletic (which I might believe is lost through Parkinson’s.
