Ride with Larry Documentary

I just finished my radio show with guests Andrew and Ricardo who are producers of the documentary Ride with Larry. You will have the opportunity to play a part in the making of this documentary by attending the Parkinsons Recovery Summit March 7th in Vancouver, Washington.

Looking for a worthy cause to support in 2011? I think it is the making of this documentary. All contributions are tax deductible. Please consider contributing – even if it is only $1. This is a grass roots effort to tell a compelling story about people on the road to recovery. Let’s support the producers and help them make the best documentary ever produced about people who currently experience the symptoms of Parkinson’s.You can make your contribution through the following website:

Ride With Larry

Andrew Rubin, Co-director/Producer of the documentary currently being produced titled Ride with Larry, called me today to explain his exciting project to make a documentary about Larry who has the symptoms of Parkinson’s. Be sure and watch the video posted here. It is truly inspiring.

Andrew is seeking donations to support the project. With only 15 days to go, please consider making a donation. Even $1 helps. Andrew sent me a description of the project which follows:

Parkinsons Recovery

Ride with Larry, an inspirational Parkinson’s documentary to start a movement, and it needs your help.

A team of advocate filmmakers, who all have loved ones with Parkinson’s, want to uplift the Parkinson’s community today while fighting for a cure tomorrow. They are creating the first film for the Parkinson’s community, by the Parkinson’s community that will help spark an international movement for research, awareness, and inspiration.

The documentary focuses on Larry Smith, a retired police captain, beloved small-town baker, and avid cyclist who has had Parkinson’s for the last 20 years. This spring filmmakers will follow him as he bikes across his state of South Dakota to raise awareness about the benefits of cycling, keeping your body active and mind positive.

As Larry’s wife Betty states:

“if you love life, you’ll fight for it.”

Please take several minutes to watch their incredibly moving trailer and you’ll find out why this film is worthy of our and hopefully your support:

They are asking for contributions through Kickstarter, a site that allows artists to fundraise online through Amazon. The funds will allow them to travel around the world to interview researchers and tell Larry’s inspirational story. However, Kickstarter’s rules state that they must raise all their money by February 1st or all pledges will be refunded. Please help them reach their goal; they are so close!
If everyone gives what they can, they will quickly surpass their required amount and make a film that will ultimately give back to the Parkinson’s community ten-fold.

They are endorsed by a team of sponsors that includes Parkinsons Recovery, the Davis Phinney Foundation, the National Parkinson Foundation, LSVT Global, and more.

The Ride with Larry team is overseen by Executive Producer Stephen Nemeth, whose socially conscious documentary credits include War/Dance (2008 Academy Award Nominee – Best Documentary), Flow (screened at both Democratic & Republican Conventions), and Fuel (Audience Award – 2008 Sundance Film Festival).

Beyond Parkinson’s disease, anyone facing a life altering illness can find true inspiration in Ride with Larry.
