Often the simplest solutions are the best. Research below explains how a variety of herbs can be treatments for Parkinsons, in particular rosemary, sage and lavender. The cost is minimal. Potential benefits in offering temporary symptom relief are now well documented.

Specific herbs used to treat symptom of Parkinsons which are covered in the studies posted below were the following (see the full length of the studies for more details):

  • Black Cumin
  • Cinnamon
  • Ginger
  • Ginkgo
  • Ginseng
  • Jiaogulan
  • Lavender
  • Licorice
  • Rosemary
  • Safflower
  • Saffron
  • Sage
  • Tumeric
  • Mucuna
  • Wormwood

These herbs are of course available as supplements in one form or another. You will recognized many as foods available in any health food store.

My suggestion: Begin adding herbs to your meals. They add a boost to the taste and at the same time offer healing properties.

Why Herbs Can Be Treatments for Parkinsons

Nutrients. 2026 Jan 29;18(3):439. Neuroprotective Herbs Associated with Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Disease

Abstract

There is currently no treatment for Parkinson’s (PD) and Alzheimer’s (AD) diseases, and medications that target the blockage of amyloid plaque cascades appear to be the most promising for preventing these diseases.

However, it is believed that consuming natural antioxidants, particularly phytochemicals such as phenolic compounds, may help the treatment process for neurodegenerative illnesses. Phenolic substances such as phenolic acids, polyphenols, and flavonoids have been shown to have antioxidant properties in plants and are thought to have a similar impact in humans.

This review provides an analysis of the current landscape of PD and AD pathophysiology, paying particular attention to phytochemical-based therapeutic, preventive, and management strategies using disclosed herb candidates in in vivo/vitro studies. We also highlight the herb-derived components that have recently been identified for their effects in the treatment of PD/AD

Front Neurosci. 2022 Jun 28:16:909833.  Neuroprotective Potential of Aromatic Herbs: Rosemary, Sage, and Lavender

Abstract

Hundreds of millions of people around the world suffer from neurological disorders or have experienced them intermittently, which has significantly reduced their quality of life. The common treatments for neurological disorders are relatively expensive and may lead to a wide variety of side effects including sleep attacks, gastrointestinal side effects, blood pressure changes, etc.

Several herbal medications have attracted colossal popularity worldwide in the recent years due to their availability, affordable prices, and few side effects. Aromatic plants, sage (Salvia officinalis), lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), and rosemary (Salvia Rosmarinus) have already shown anxiolytics, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective effects.

They have also shown potential in treating common neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, migraine, and cognitive disorders. This review summarizes the data on the neuroprotective potential of aromatic herbs, sage, lavender, and rosemary.
