Recent studies have documented a connection between insulin resistance and Parkinsons. Exercise is the best treatment for Parkinsons because in large part it has a direct and profound impact on ability of the body to process sugars.

Muscles play a leading role in glucose uptake which which is why exercise is one of the most effective ways to improve the management of blood sugars in the body. Exercising muscles increases glucose utilization and improves insulin sensitivity. This makes it possible for the body to regulate blood sugar more efficiently and effectively.
An isolated exercise session temporarily improves glucose utilization. Regular exercise leads to lasting improvements in the ability of the body to assimilate and process sugars which is why exercise is the best treatment for Parkinsons.
Why do I say best here? Annual Parkinsons Recovery® surveys reveal that the therapy most frequently listed as beneficial for celebrating relief from Parkinsons symptoms is – you guessed it – exercise.
Aerobic exercise improves glucose regulation. Weight lifting and resistance exercise improves the strength of muscles and the capacity of the body to store sugars. Adding both types of exercise to exercise routines would thus be particularly beneficial.
